CRM integration

Connect Zoho CRM to MailNesto

Contacts and lead scores go to Zoho CRM; Zoho workflows can send contacts back.

Overview

Zoho CRM and MailNesto, together

Zoho CRM is a common choice for Indian sales teams, and this connection keeps it in step with your email. New and changed MailNesto contacts go to Zoho CRM’s Contacts module every few minutes, matched by email, with their opt-out status and, if you like, their lead score.

You connect with a Zoho Self Client, so no third-party app sits in your Zoho account, and you pick the data centre your Zoho account lives in, including India (zoho.in). Zoho workflow rules can also send contacts the other way.

What syncs

What moves between Zoho CRM and MailNesto

From MailNestoContacts

Email, first name, last name (Zoho requires one, so the first name or the part of the email before the @ is used when it’s empty), mailing city and phone, with Lead Source set to MailNesto.

From MailNestoEmail opt-out

Email Opt Out is ticked in Zoho for anyone who is not subscribed in MailNesto, so sales can see who has unsubscribed or bounced.

From MailNestoLead score

Optional: written to a number field you create in Contacts, by its API name (for example Email_Score).

Into MailNestoContacts from Zoho workflows

A workflow rule’s Webhook action can post contacts to your private URL with the list and tags you choose.

Set it up

Connect Zoho CRM in a few minutes

  1. 1

    Create a Self Client

In the Zoho API Console (api-console.zoho.in for India) create a Self Client, generate a code with the scope ZohoCRM.modules.contacts.ALL and exchange it for a refresh token.

  2. 2

    Add a score field (optional)

In Zoho CRM add a number field to the Contacts module for the lead score and note its API name.

  3. 3

    Connect in MailNesto

Go to Integrations → Connect an app → Zoho CRM and click Connect. Under “Send contacts to Zoho CRM” paste the client ID, client secret and refresh token, pick your data centre, enter the score field’s API name if you made one, and click “Connect Zoho CRM”.

  4. 4

    Send contacts back (optional)

In Zoho CRM create a workflow rule with a Webhook action that posts to the private URL in MailNesto, including the contact’s email.

Ideas

What you can do with it

Call lists from email engagement

Sort Zoho contacts by the lead score field each morning. A B2B supplier in Coimbatore can call buyers who opened the new catalogue email twice and clicked the price list.

Respect opt-outs in sales email

Because Email Opt Out follows MailNesto, Zoho’s own mass emails skip people who unsubscribed from your marketing.

Nurture leads sales isn’t ready for

A Zoho workflow can post leads marked “Not now” to MailNesto with a tag that starts a monthly newsletter, so they hear from you until they’re ready.

FAQ

Questions about the Zoho CRM integration

Which data centres are supported?

India (zoho.in), US (zoho.com), Europe, Australia, Japan, Canada and Saudi Arabia. Pick the one your Zoho account uses, or the token won’t be accepted.

Does it create leads or contacts in Zoho?

Contacts. Records are upserted into the Contacts module with Email as the duplicate check, so an existing contact is updated rather than duplicated.

What if Zoho refuses some records?

If every record in a batch is refused, the sync stops with Zoho’s message on the card. If only some fail, the rest are saved and the next run carries on.

Is my client secret stored safely?

The client ID, secret and refresh token are stored encrypted and used only to get short-lived access tokens from Zoho.
