When Klaviyo may be the better fit

Every tool has strengths. Klaviyo could suit you better if:

  • You run an online store (especially Shopify or WooCommerce) and want flows driven by product views, checkouts and orders
  • You want revenue attribution and predictive segmentation built in
  • You need email and SMS from the same customer profile
  • You manage several brands or regional stores and want to switch accounts under one login
Switching

Move from Klaviyo to MailNesto

Most teams are sending from MailNesto within a day.

  1. 1

    Export from Klaviyo

Audience > Lists & segments > (list or segment) > Manage list/segment > Export to CSV > choose properties > Start Export; download from Settings > Other > Downloads. For all profiles, first build a segment of 'can or cannot receive email marketing'.

  2. 2

    Import into MailNesto

Contacts → Import: upload the CSV or Excel file (or paste it), map the columns, choose a list. Import only subscribed people, then paste unsubscribed, bounced and complained addresses into Audience → Suppression list so they never get email again.

  3. 3

    Bring your designs

Content > Templates > (template) options menu > Export > copy the HTML from the Export template HTML dialog. Then import the .html or .zip in Templates, or start from one of ours.

  4. 4

    Authenticate your domain

Add the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records MailNesto shows you, then send a test. New senders ramp up gradually to protect your reputation.

  5. 5

    Rebuild automations

Start from a recipe (welcome, birthday, win-back, abandoned cart) or build your own journey with branches and goals. Note: Templates use Django-style tags such as {{ first_name }}. Flows, forms and event data do not carry over; export consent fields and suppressions separately.

FAQ

Questions about MailNesto and Klaviyo

Yes. In Klaviyo: Audience > Lists & segments > (list or segment) > Manage list/segment > Export to CSV > choose properties > Start Export; download from Settings > Other > Downloads. For all profiles, first build a segment of 'can or cannot receive email marketing'. Then import the file in MailNesto (CSV, Excel or paste), map the columns and choose a list. Unsubscribed and bounced people stay suppressed.

It depends on your list size and how often you send. Deliverability depends mostly on your domain’s authentication and your list. MailNesto checks SPF, DKIM and DMARC for you, ramps new senders up gradually and can send through your own SES, SendGrid or SMTP.

Do I have to switch everything at once?

No. Many teams start by sending one newsletter from MailNesto while the old tool keeps running, compare the results, then move automations over.
