Automation integration

Connect Zapier to MailNesto

Add contacts from thousands of apps with a “Webhooks by Zapier” step.

Overview

Zapier and MailNesto, together

Zapier connects to MailNesto through a webhook step, so any app Zapier supports can add or update contacts here: a form tool, a webinar platform, a spreadsheet, a help desk. You add a “Webhooks by Zapier” POST action to your Zap, paste your private URL and map the fields.

It works the other way too. MailNesto can post its own events, such as a new contact, an unsubscribe, a click or a new order, to a Zapier “Catch Hook” trigger, so a Zap can update another tool when something happens in your email.

Contacts that arrive through Zapier follow the same rules as everyone else: suppressed and unsubscribed addresses are never resubscribed, the plan’s contact limit is respected, and each new contact gets a consent record that says it came from a connected app.

What syncs

What moves between Zapier and MailNesto

Into MailNestoContacts

Email plus first_name, last_name (or a single name, split for you), tags and any other fields. Extra values become contact fields with lower-case names, up to 30 per contact.

Into MailNestoSeveral contacts at once

A JSON array adds up to 100 contacts in one request; the response lists how many were added, updated and skipped, and why.

From MailNestoMailNesto events

Contact created, joined a list, tag added, unsubscribed, form submitted, email opened or clicked, bounce, complaint, campaign sent, order received and transactional email events, posted to a URL you choose and signed.

Set it up

Connect Zapier in a few minutes

  1. 1

    Create the connection

In MailNesto go to Integrations → Connect an app → Zapier. Choose a list and tags for new contacts and click Connect. Copy “Your private URL”.

  2. 2

    Add the webhook action

In your Zap, add the action Webhooks by Zapier → POST. Paste the URL, set payload type to JSON and map email, first_name, last_name and any other fields you want to keep.

  3. 3

    Ask for consent if needed

If the source app doesn’t always collect marketing consent, send a field called consent with true or false, and switch on “Only add people when the payload has consent=true” in MailNesto.

  4. 4

    Test and watch

Run the Zap’s test. The Activity tab in MailNesto shows a line like “1 added, 0 updated” within seconds, or the reason a contact was skipped.

  5. 5

    Send events to Zapier (optional)

Start a Zap with Webhooks by Zapier → Catch Hook and copy its URL. In MailNesto open Developers → Webhooks, add an endpoint with that URL and pick the events you need.

Ideas

What you can do with it

Webinar sign-ups into a follow-up series

Send registrants from your webinar tool with the tag “webinar-june”. An automation that starts on that tag sends the joining link, a reminder the morning of the session and the recording the day after.

Course buyers onto the right list

A coaching business in Kochi can route buyers of each course to their own list, so the welcome series and community invitations match what they bought.

Tell your CRM when someone clicks pricing

Use the “Link clicked” event in a Catch Hook Zap to add a note or task in a sales tool whenever a contact clicks the pricing link in a campaign.

Keep a shared sheet of unsubscribes

Post the “Contact unsubscribed” event to a Zap that adds a row to a sheet your team checks before calling anyone.

FAQ

Questions about the Zapier integration

Which field names does MailNesto recognise?

email (also Email or email_address, even inside a data, contact or customer object), first_name, firstName or fname, last_name, lastName or surname, name, and tags as a list or comma-separated text. Anything else becomes a contact field.

What happens if the person is already a contact?

Their fields are updated and the list and tags are applied, but a name they already have isn’t overwritten. Someone who unsubscribed or is suppressed stays that way.

Can I pause the connection without breaking my Zap?

Yes. Pause it in the integration’s menu and incoming data is ignored until you resume. The Zap still gets a reply, so it doesn’t keep retrying.

Is the private URL safe to share?

Treat it like a password: anyone with it can add contacts. Only owners and admins can see it, and “New secret URL” replaces it instantly.
