Connect WooCommerce to MailNesto

Orders and customers from your WordPress store, with revenue per email and history import.

Overview

WooCommerce and MailNesto, together

WooCommerce sends orders, customers and products to MailNesto through its built-in webhooks. Each delivery is signed with a secret you choose, and MailNesto checks it before saving anything. The first delivery is a ping, and you’ll see “WooCommerce connected” in the Activity tab when it lands.

Because WooCommerce checkouts don’t ask for marketing consent by default, new customers are not added to your list unless you say your checkout asks for it. Orders are always recorded, so revenue reports stay complete either way. If you want a proper opt-in, the MailNesto WordPress plugin adds a newsletter checkbox to both the classic and the block checkout.

What syncs

What moves between WooCommerce and MailNesto

Into MailNestoOrders

Order number, total, currency, item count and each line item with product, quantity and price. Credited to the last email the buyer clicked in the 5 days before ordering.

Into MailNestoCustomers

Email, first and last name and billing city. Added as subscribers only when “My checkout asks for marketing consent” is switched on; otherwise only people already in MailNesto are updated.

Into MailNestoProducts

Name, permalink, first image, price, regular price (shown as the compare-at price when on sale), category and stock status. Drafts and deleted products are archived.

Into MailNestoPast customers, orders and products

A one-time import through a WooCommerce REST API key with Read permission, optionally only orders since a date you pick.

Into MailNestoCheckout opt-ins (WordPress plugin)

Shoppers who tick the newsletter box at checkout are sent to a MailNesto form, which applies that form’s lists, tags and double opt-in settings.

Set it up

Connect WooCommerce in a few minutes

  1. 1

    Connect in MailNesto

Go to Integrations → Connect an app → WooCommerce. Choose a list and tags for new contacts. Turn on “My checkout asks for marketing consent” only if it really does. Type a webhook secret and click Connect to get your webhook URL.

  2. 2

    Add the webhooks in WordPress

Open WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → Webhooks → Add webhook. Create one each for Order created, Customer created, Product created, Product updated and Product deleted, with the delivery URL from MailNesto, API version WP REST API v3 and the same secret.

  3. 3

    Import past data

In WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API, add a key with Read permission and copy the consumer key (ck_…) and secret (cs_…). In MailNesto open the Past data tab, enter your https:// store address and both keys, click “Check and save”, then start the import. Pretty permalinks need to be on.

  4. 4

    Add the checkout opt-in (optional)

Download the WordPress plugin from the Integrations page, upload it under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin and activate it. In its settings, paste the App URL, switch on “Show a newsletter opt-in on checkout” and enter the ID of the form that should receive sign-ups.

Ideas

What you can do with it

Thank buyers and ask for a review

The Thank-you & review request recipe uses a segment of people who ordered in the last 2 days, sends a thank-you, and follows a week later asking how the order went. A handloom seller in Jaipur might ask for a photo of the saree being worn.

Win back lapsed customers

Customers with no order in 90 days enter the Win back lapsed customers journey. It sends a welcome-back code, waits up to a week for an order or a click, and sends a last call only to those who didn’t respond.

Restock reminders for consumables

For products bought every month, such as cold-pressed oils or pet food, the Restock reminder recipe catches people whose last order was 30 to 45 days ago and links them straight back to reorder.

Product picks in every newsletter

Because products sync with prices and stock, a product block can show bestsellers or picks for each reader. Out-of-stock items are left out when the email is sent.

FAQ

Questions about the WooCommerce integration

Does WooCommerce send abandoned carts?

Not through this connection. WooCommerce’s webhooks cover orders, customers and products. To recover carts from a WooCommerce store, post carts to the Custom store URL or the carts API from your own code.

Why weren’t my customers added to my list?

By default WooCommerce doesn’t collect marketing consent, so new customers are only recorded with their orders. Switch on “My checkout asks for marketing consent” if your checkout includes a clear opt-in, or use the plugin’s checkout checkbox.

Is my REST API key stored safely?

The consumer key and secret are stored encrypted and only used to read customers, orders and products. The store address must use https:// so the keys never travel unencrypted.

Can I stop the history import half-way?

Yes. A running import has a Stop button. Everything imported up to that point is kept, and starting again skips what is already in.
