Overview

Moving from Pabbly Email Marketing to MailNesto

Pabbly Email Marketing appeals to people who prefer to bring their own SMTP account. MailNesto can work the same way: connect Amazon SES, SendGrid, Mailgun, Zoho ZeptoMail or any SMTP server, with routing by priority and weight, warm-up schedules and bounce webhooks. On top of that you get a block builder, recipes with the emails already written, store-aware segments and a light CRM.

Each list exports as a CSV from the Lists page. Pabbly’s help doesn’t document a template export or a separate unsubscribe export, so check each file for status columns. Automations, lead scores and SMTP routing rules have to be set up again; the SMTP accounts themselves stay exactly as they are.

Step by step

Five steps to switch

  1. 1

    Export from Pabbly Email Marketing

Lists page > ⋮ (three-dot) button next to the list > export option; downloads the full list as CSV.

  2. 2

    Import into MailNesto

Contacts → Import: upload the CSV or Excel file (or paste it), map the columns, choose a list. Import only subscribed people, then paste unsubscribed, bounced and complained addresses into Audience → Suppression list so they never get email again.

  3. 3

    Bring your designs

No template export documented; copy HTML from the HTML editor. Then import the .html or .zip in Templates, or start from one of ours.

  4. 4

    Authenticate your domain

Add the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records MailNesto shows you, then send a test. New senders ramp up gradually to protect your reputation.

  5. 5

    Rebuild automations

Start from a recipe (welcome, birthday, win-back, abandoned cart) or build your own journey with branches and goals. Note: Your own SMTP setup carries over if the new tool supports BYO SMTP. Automations, lead scores and SMTP routing rules must be rebuilt; merge-tag syntax not documented on pages checked.

A short checklist

Keep Pabbly Email Marketing running until your first campaigns from MailNesto look right.

  • Export unsubscribed, bounced and complained contacts too — they must stay suppressed
  • Note when and how people subscribed (consent) and keep it in a field
  • Download reports you want to keep; engagement history doesn’t move between tools
  • Replace merge tags — MailNesto uses {{first_name}} with optional fallbacks {{first_name|there}}
  • Update signup forms on your website to MailNesto’s forms or the WordPress plugin
  • Send to your most engaged people first while the new sender warms up

Exporting everything from Pabbly Email Marketing

Menu names change from time to time — the steps below follow Pabbly Email Marketing’s own help pages, linked at the bottom.

  1. 1

Export each list. On the Lists page, click the three-dot button next to a list and choose the export option. The whole list downloads as a CSV.

  2. 2

Check subscriber status. Open each file and look for a status column. Pabbly’s help page doesn’t say whether unsubscribed or bounced subscribers are included; if they are, move them into a separate file for the suppression list.

  3. 3

Note your SMTP settings. Write down each SMTP account Pabbly sends through: provider, host, port, username and any daily limit. You’ll enter the same account in MailNesto.

  4. 4

Copy template HTML. Copy templates from Pabbly’s HTML editor into .html files, or zip each one with its images.

  5. 5

List your connections. Make a note of every form, Pabbly Connect workflow or API call that adds subscribers to Pabbly, so you can point each one at MailNesto.

Automations

Rebuilding your Pabbly Email Marketing automations

  • Autoresponder after sign-up → Welcome series, or Getting-started course for a short lesson every few days.
  • Tag- or list-based follow-ups → Free guide follow-up, or Waitlist keep-warm for people tagged “waitlist”.
  • Score alerts → Hot lead alert, which notifies the team when a contact reaches 50 points.
  • Unsubscribe follow-up → Goodbye email, one message that also tags the contact “churned”.
Watch out for

Common mistakes when leaving Pabbly Email Marketing

  • A domain can have only one SPF record. Use the SPF builder under Sending → DNS tools to merge every provider you send through into that one record, instead of publishing a second.
  • Your SMTP account’s daily limit still applies. Set the same daily limit on the server in MailNesto, so anything over the cap goes to another server or waits until tomorrow instead of failing.
  • Bounces only come back if you connect them. Copy your provider’s URL from the “Bounce & complaint webhooks” card on the Sending page into the provider’s webhook or notification settings.
  • Pabbly’s merge-tag syntax isn’t documented on the help pages we checked. Search each template for brackets or braces that aren’t in MailNesto’s {{…}} form and replace them before sending.
  • An already-warm SMTP account doesn’t need a warm-up schedule; warm-up is for new domains or IPs. Leave it off unless the account or domain is new.
  • Subscribers on several Pabbly lists appear once per file. Import each file into its matching MailNesto list; duplicates are merged, so a reader on three lists becomes one contact on all three and is counted once.
FAQ

Questions about moving from Pabbly Email Marketing

Can I use the same Amazon SES account?

Yes. Create SMTP credentials in the SES region you use and add an Amazon SES server. The region list includes Mumbai and Hyderabad.

What if I don’t connect my own SMTP?

Depending on your plan, email goes out through MailNesto’s shared servers, through servers you connect, or either. The pricing page shows which plans include your own servers.

Can I split sending between two SMTP accounts?

Yes. Give them the same priority and set weights, for example 70 and 30. The Sending page shows each server’s share and its bounces and complaints for the last seven days.

Do I still need Pabbly Connect?

Only if you like it. MailNesto works with Pabbly Connect, Zapier and Make, and also has a REST API and signed, retried webhooks.
