Connect Razorpay to MailNesto
Payments, payment links and pages become orders — revenue per email — and payers become contacts.
Razorpay and MailNesto, together
Many Indian businesses take money through Razorpay payment links or payment pages instead of a full online store. The Razorpay connection turns each captured payment into an order in MailNesto, so you can see which campaign brought in which payment, in rupees, without building a shop.
Razorpay signs every webhook with a secret you choose, and MailNesto rejects anything that doesn’t match. People who pay can be added as subscribers if your payment page asks for marketing consent; if it doesn’t, payments are still recorded and people already on your list are kept up to date.
Razorpay also appears on our integrations list for a second reason: when you pay for your own MailNesto plan in rupees, checkout runs through Razorpay, so you can pay by UPI, card or netbanking and receive a GST invoice.
What moves between Razorpay and MailNesto
payment.captured, payment_link.paid and order.paid events become orders: amount, currency, payment time and a reference (your receipt, the link’s reference ID or the payment ID). Sending the same payment twice doesn’t count it twice.
Email, name (from the notes or the payment link’s customer) and phone number as a contact field. New payers are subscribed only when you turn on the consent switch.
Pass the nesto_r value from the link the buyer arrived on in the payment notes; otherwise the payment goes to their last email click in the 5 days before paying.
Connect Razorpay in a few minutes
- 1
Connect in MailNesto
Go to Integrations → Connect an app → Razorpay. Type a webhook secret, choose a list and tags, and only turn on “My payment pages ask for marketing consent” if they do. Click Connect and copy the private URL.
- 2
Add the webhook in Razorpay
In the Razorpay Dashboard open Accounts & Settings → Webhooks → Add new webhook. Paste the URL, enter the same secret, and tick payment.captured and payment_link.paid.
- 3
Credit sales to emails
If you create orders or links through Razorpay’s API, add the nesto_r value from the visitor’s landing address to the notes (notes.nesto_r). Payment pages without it still use the last-click rule.
- 4
Check a test payment
Make a small test payment. The Activity tab shows a line such as “Payment pay_… · ₹499 · priya@example.com · credited to an email”, and the order appears under Orders & revenue with Razorpay as its source.
What you can do with it
A pottery studio in Goa selling weekend workshops through payment links can tag payers “workshop-paid” and start an automation that sends what to wear, the address and a reminder the evening before.
Send your monthly newsletter with a payment link for a limited batch. The campaign report shows the payments credited to it, so next month you know which offer to repeat.
A segment of contacts with exactly one order and none in the last 60 days catches one-time payers for a gentle “book your next session” email.
Use a segment of contacts whose total spend passes ₹10,000 and an automation that starts when someone enters it, creates a task for your team to call and thank them, and sends a short note the next day.
Questions about the Razorpay integration
Does it work with payment links and payment pages?
Yes. Payment link payments arrive as payment_link.paid; payment page payments arrive as payment.captured. Both become orders.
Are payers emailed automatically?
Only if you turn on the consent switch and your page really asks for consent. Otherwise payers are recorded with their orders but not added to your marketing list.
Are amounts converted?
Razorpay sends amounts in paise and they are stored exactly. A payment of ₹1,499.50 shows as ₹1,499.50.
What happens to refunds or failed payments?
Only successful payment events are recorded. Other events are logged as ignored and change nothing.
Can I pay for my MailNesto plan with Razorpay?
Yes. Rupee invoices are paid through Razorpay checkout by UPI, card or netbanking, and a GST invoice is issued. See pricing for plan details.
